Getting Started: Materials You Will Need

Before starting your outdoor fire pit project, gather the following materials:

Now that you have your materials ready, let's start building!

Step 1: Choose a Location in your Backyard and Prepare the Area

Site the pit on a flat area about 12 feet in diameter. Place the stake at the center of your desired circle, tie the spray-paint can to a string attached to the stake, and mark a circle. Dig out the dirt within the circle to about 18 inches deep.

Step 2: Create the Foundation

Add a layer of gravel or sand to the area you cleared to create a stable base. Use the tamper to compact the gravel or sand and make sure you have a level surface.

Step 3: Install the Fire Pit Ring

Place the fire pit ring at the center of the area. This will be where the fire is contained, so make sure it is where you want it. This is an important step!

Step 4: Build the Walls

Use bricks or pavers to build up the walls of your fire pit around the ring, stacking them in your preferred design. Secure the bricks together with the masonry adhesive for stability.

With these simple steps, you can enjoy the warmth, charm, and pride of a homemade fire pit right in your backyard. Grab some outdoor seating, light up a fire, and create lasting memories around your new outdoor centerpiece!
